The Scorecard

Rate each statement as your group runs today, not as it is planned. Three for each step, in the framework’s order.

Recognize what’s real
We can name the one cause behind our biggest problem, not only the symptom we feel.
That cause is written down, and it has been checked against the numbers and against a shift in service.
We know where the cause starts and roughly what it costs us each month.
Align execution to intent
Asked separately, ownership and operations would describe our main problem the same way.
We have agreed what result, by what date, will count as fixed.
Who makes each recurring call is written down, so the same calls stop climbing to the top.
Narrow focus on core drivers
We are working on three priorities at most, and every manager could name them.
Each priority has one owner and one number that we read every week.
We have said out loud what waits until those priorities are done.
Generate momentum through process improvement
Our standards hold on shifts when no senior leader is there.
Our weekly meeting ends with named owners and dates, and the next one opens by checking them.
The last change we made to how the group runs is still in place.
Elevate team capability
If our strongest GM left, someone is ready to take the role within a month.
New managers follow a set path before they run shifts alone.
The systems would keep running if the people who built them stepped back for a month.

How to rate

Not true 0
It does not happen, or nobody could show it.
Partly true 1
Sometimes, in some units, or only half of the statement.
Mostly true 2
It holds most weeks, or in most units.
True 3
You could show it today, in every unit.

A step holds at 7 of 9 points or more, with nothing rated Not true. The work starts at the earliest step that does not.
